Loneliness is an issue that organisations tend to overlook, despite it deeply affecting employees' performance and underlying HR costs, a workplace researcher says.
On the health side, lonely employees are more likely to experience burnout, says RMIT senior lecturer Dr Shea Fan.
But loneliness also impedes performance; it affects employees' attention, making them "more likely to make mistakes", she tells HR Daily.
