Science-based algorithms boost chances of a mentoring "perfect match"

Employers are increasingly turning to mentoring as a development and retention tool, as technology makes it easier to administer programs and make the right matches, a specialist says.

One thing employees have been craving since the pandemic is human connection, according to organisational psychologist and Brancher co-founder Holly Brailsford.

"They want a real person to actually talk to and to support them," even if it's not face-to-face, she says.

And the "administrative burden" associated with mentoring has traditionally been a barrier, but new solutions, which combine technology, psychology and science, can reduce it by more than 80%. Further, use of a matching algorithm improves satisfaction among participants...
