Employers are getting "very creative and competitive" to attract talent, but overpromising and underdelivering on the employee experience is set to cause serious retention issues, an HR expert warns.
'Jobwashing' – conveying a false impression or providing misleading information about an employer brand – can occur both deliberately and inadvertently, says Katherine Swan, NSW general manager of HR Partners by Randstad.
In both cases, prospective employees are presented with a 'dream' employee experience that doesn't match reality.
Swan says it's important to raise awareness of jobwashing, not just so candidates can beware of being misled, but so employers can beware of misleading them...
