Organisations not "brave enough" to embed play at work

Despite the clear benefits of implementing play in the workplace, very few organisations are "brave enough to really make this a habit", an expert on the topic says.

There are many misconceptions around introducing a playful work environment, but when done properly, it can boost connection, creativity and wellbeing, Culture Hero founder Dara Simkin tells HR Daily.

What play looks like at work will differ between employers, but every organisation can endeavour to create "moments of curiosity and creativity" and find frameworks, tools and activities that suit their culture and values, she says.

"Play is really difficult to define because it's so innate in us, we are biologically wired for it… play is how we learn and develop and interact with the world," Simkin explains...
