Open management philosophy requires being "intentional upfront"

An employer's transparent approach to communication and its commitment to psychological safety has led it to an "open management philosophy", its people leader says.

Red Hat has extended the philosophy underpinning its core offering of open-source software to its management philosophy, says senior VP and chief people officer Jennifer Dudeck.

"This notion that innovation on the code comes from anywhere within the company, and frankly outside of the company too, really became a part of our DNA as we grew.

"We look at many if not most of the work we do across the company and the decisions we make in a very open and inclusive way to say if we can develop this hugely innovative and disruptive software taking inputs from all over the world and other companies, then as a company, we're committed to really looking across the whole organisation to bring the best and brightest ideas towards almost anything we do..."
