Online "bullying" comments had no connection to work: FWC

Criticisms about a director on her employer's Facebook page had no "rational connection" to work and in any case didn't amount to bullying, the Fair Work Commission has ruled.

The Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) director claimed she was bullied by the ACT branch management committee vice president, as well as a committee member, when they posted numerous comments about her online.

She told the Commission she had experienced bullying since becoming a director in November last year, but that this escalated in September, when the employer began moderating a Facebook page related to the upcoming AASW director elections.

This page contained a link to another group, titled 'Independent Social Works Group – Australia' (ISWA), whose purpose was to publish false and malicious content about directors and to question their ethics, the director said...
