Metaverse amplifies connection and collaboration in hybrid work

Employers can regain some of the water-cooler conversations and incidental learning opportunities they've lost with hybrid work by moving elements of work into the metaverse, a technology and collaboration specialist says.

With work now involving less real-world contact, the metaverse and avatars can serve as an 'in-between' to the virtual and physical, DXC Technology global offering manager for immersive collaboration Chris Cornelius tells HR Daily.

"The times have changed, and we are very much now – at least in the hybrid workforce – moving forward," he says.

"This technology is coming and [it] will change the way you engage with your audience, no matter who it is – whether its people you're recruiting or people you work with every day or an entire company."

The question for HR is: "How do we use these technologies to bring people together, both at large scale for things like large business events, but also smaller scale and more intimate groups to counteract the psychological challenges of remote work?" Cornelius says...
