An employee's unblemished 32-year tenure didn't outweigh his failure to comply with "clear" directions following customer complaints about him sharing COVID conspiracy theories, the Fair Work Commission has ruled in upholding his dismissal.
In August last year, Australia Post suspended the postal transport officer from duty after receiving a complaint from one of its customers, JB Hi-Fi, about his behaviour towards its workers.
A few days later the employer informed him it was investigating allegations he attended the JB Hi-Fi store to collect parcels but failed to check in using the QR code and wear a mask as required, and discussed COVID conspiracy theories with staff...
