Fostering 'ideapreneurship' among employees helps to drive customer satisfaction to the next level, an HR leader says.

HCL Technologies has recently been recognised as a top employer, and chief human resources officer Apparao VV says one of its "unique" features was particularly singled out in the study.

Employees have access to a "value portal" through which they can evaluate their ideas before offering them to customers – the program has been running for more than 15 years, and a winner is announced annually.

"We conduct this at scale. Typically, some 20 to 30 thousand people participate in this," he tells HR Daily.

"They generate the ideas, they demonstrate... and the top winner gets around $45,000..."
