HR director cleared of 'mishandling' workplace bullying complaints

An employee has failed to prove an HR director "unprofessionally mishandled" his workplace bullying complaints, with the Fair Work Commission finding her response was "appropriate" and in his best interests.

The Hilton Darwin guest service agent sought stop-bullying orders against his manager, and in his application also raised concerns about the HR director. He claimed the manager made degrading comments to him at work, blocked and unblocked him on Facebook, was bossy and unsupportive, and was selective in who she was nice to.

The employee said that when he complained, the HR director told him the behaviour wasn't bullying and that she needed more details about what had happened. She also said, "it happens everywhere, there is nothing wrong with what [the manager] said", he alleged...
