HR can foster 'curious' conversations for CEOs

Helping CEOs to "turn on their curiosity" will enable them to have better relationships with their teams, an executive consultant says.

Further, according to To Lead? founder and executive coach Peter Hislop, with the help of HR, fostering curiosity can make CEOs more comfortable with the idea that they don't always have to be correct.

"One of the things that we normally forget is that CEOs normally come up through an organisation as subject matter experts. The higher they get in that area of subject matter expertise, the more they are used to being right," he tells HR Daily.

"They create themselves a reputation of being right and being right quickly. They create a situation where they can be confident in the fact that they can be quick to decision. So, once they get into a CEO role, they have an almost out-of-control need to be right because that's where success has applauded them..."
