Graduate retention at risk amid focus on high volumes

Employers are struggling to align their multiple objectives when designing graduate programs, and too many still think a high volume of applicants indicates success, according to a specialist in the field.

"One of the conversations that needs to happen explicitly is the multiple objectives conversation. When you're designing your program and when you're designing your selection process, it's not just trying to achieve one thing," says SHL talent practice director Samantha Hickey.

She tells HR Daily it's critical to have open conversations about the multiple objectives of graduate programs, and attraction efficiency is a key example of how varying objectives interact.
