Existing workforce is best defence against culture dilution

With so many organisations growing headcount, it's crucial to lean on existing employees to help maintain and reinforce workplace values, a people leader says.

The "biggest weapon we have in preventing culture dilution is our existing workforce", says internet marketing company Rokt's chief people officer Sarah Wilson.

"We believe culture is what people do when no one's looking and when they believe no one is looking. We spend a lot of time connecting both our existing employees and our candidates with our values and the way that we think of our values and the behaviours that we expect," she tells HR Daily.

"So, reminding [existing employees] about the role they play in role-modelling the business's values is how we continue to make sure that that is what we do when no one is looking and that that is how we treat one another..."
