Employers need more "CQ" to break through bamboo ceiling

The "bamboo ceiling" is alive and well in many organisations across Australia, and one way to break through it is for employers to build their cultural intelligence or "CQ", an inclusion leader says.

The term, originated by leadership strategist Jane Hyun in 2005, still holds weight today; according to a 2018 Human Rights Commission report, only 1.6% of CEOs and 3.3% of c-suite executives across Australia had an Asian cultural background.

It's these types of statistics, and discussions with other Asian Australians in the corporate sphere, that led Julie Chai to launch Asian Leadership Project (AsLP) in 2017...
