Employer failed to deal with complaints in a 'timely, transparent' manner

In a case that provides an important "lesson" for dealing with workplace complaints, an employer has been criticised for failing to deal with allegations in a "timely and transparent manner".

In June last year, BM Supplies Unit Trust sold its business and a few weeks later it told an employee – a truck driver who joined in 2020 – that he wouldn't be employed by the new owners.

In unfair dismissal proceedings, the employer told the Fair Work Commission it had a valid reason to sack the employee because it had received numerous complaints about his conduct and performance over the years...
