Employee changed from part time to casual was "dismissed"

An employer dismissed an employee when it changed her position from part time to casual without her agreement, the Fair Work Commission has found, clearing her to pursue her general protections claim.

Commissioner Sharon Durham found the employer's actions "clearly demonstrated [its] intention to bring the employment relationship to an end", and rejected that the employee remained on its books because it had casual shifts available.
