"Crisis" approach to gender data mitigates risk of a knee-jerk response

Adopting a "crisis communications mindset" ahead of next week's release of gender pay gap data will help all reporting employers, even if they're proud of their results, a communications expert says.

This means "anticipating potential questions that you might be asked, and in some cases answering them before you even have them asked of you", says Pure Public Relations founder and MD Phoebe Netto.

"You might have a positive message that you can share," Netto says, but depending on whether the audience is employees or the public, customers or prospective candidates, it needs to be said in different ways.

"A crisis communication response is thinking of the different stakeholders and what they will all need and having it prepared before you even have any questions to answer," she tells HR Daily...
