Court restrains worker accused of poaching "sizeable number" of clients

It was open to conclude that an employer would keep losing clients if its former employee wasn't restrained from using its confidential information at his new workplace, the Federal Court has ruled.

AEI Insurance Group is suing a former account manager for allegedly breaching his employment contract, and applied to the Court for interlocutory relief.

The Court heard that during his employment, the employee had been provided a mobile phone and computer, and had access to client details.

The employer claimed that the employee resigned in August this year; he initially refused to indicate where he was going, but eventually admitted he would be working for a competitor, MA Insurance Brokers...
