Connection "crisis" calls for intentional culture, daily communication

Emotional proximity can improve organisational culture by up to 27%, whereas physical proximity has no impact, according to new research from Gartner.

In a hybrid environment, where "being seen becomes rarefied", it is more important than ever for employees to feel seen, it says.

According to Gartner's recent survey, involving nearly 4,000 hybrid and remote participants, connection that was driven by intention – not "osmosis" – led to a 37% increase in performance and a 36% increase in retention.

However, employees are 2.8-times more likely to report feeling seen if they are also physically seen, and this is concerning because they are currently meeting with their teams in person, on average, only two days a week...
