Empathy an "anchor" for communication and mental health

Grounding values in empathy and normalising taking a break has transformed an employer's approach to communication and mental health, its people leader says.

Software company Genesys has rolled out a series of initiatives over the past 18 months "from very basic things to really doubling down on messages around our culture, and focusing on the employee experience", says chief people officer Eva Majercsik.

When the pandemic hit, the company's "first and foremost priority was to put the employee at the centre", she tells HR Daily.

The aim was to ensure employees and managers felt "empowered to raise anything that they want to talk about", whether it be about performance management or mental health.
