"Promising" gender pay gap results, amid key issues to address

For every $1 men earn in Australia, women earn 78 cents, equating to a gender pay gap of 21.7% – the lowest on record, according to the Workplace Gender Equality Agency.

Released today, the 2022-23 gender equality scorecard – based on data from more than 5,000 employers, covering 4.82 million employees – shows the annual pay difference between men and women is $26,393, compared to $26,597 last year.

According to WGEA, the fall of 1.1 percentage points is the second largest single-year drop since it began collecting employer data in 2014...
