"Monstrous" casual conversion process needs overhaul; and more

The upcoming review of casual conversion rights presents an opportunity to "streamline" the process and address its "monstrous administrative burden", an employee relations specialist says.

When the casuals changes passed in March last year, the legislation required the IR Minister to start a review "as soon as possible" after 12 months had elapsed, with a report due within the following six months.

With this in mind, RCSA head of advocacy and policy, Brooke Lord, says the process in particular needs to be evaluated, especially in light of employees' very low uptake of conversion offers.
