LGBTQ+ women less likely to be 'out', more likely to have been harassed

Employees who are both LGBTQ+ and a woman are less likely to be 'out' at work than LGBTQ+ men, and more likely to have experienced bullying in the past 12 months, landmark research shows.

The Pride in Diversity report compiles data collected in employer focus groups with academic research and findings from the 2022 Australian Workplace Equality Index (AWEI) employee survey. In particular it examines responses from the survey's 5,043 'sapphire' respondents – employees who identified as cisgender women with a diverse sexual orientation; or as transgender women; or were non-binary people who said they were perceived by colleagues as female or feminine, or believed they face the same challenges as LGBTQ+ women.
