HR 'not immune' to emerging psychosocial risks

Workload overwhelm is the top work-related reason for EAP referrals, and HR is not immune, an organisational psychologist says.

Employers should be "very concerned", because workload isn't just the biggest psychosocial risk they're facing in terms of burnout – it's also having flow-on impacts, says Centre for Corporate Health director of psychological services Rachel Clements.

"It's becoming a retention issue as well. The risk is, if someone starts to get tired, fatigued, and burnt out, suddenly [they've] become disconnected. We're seeing this emerging as another psychosocial issue," she tells HR Daily...
