Don't take a "problem-solving approach" to wellbeing: expert

The approach of "finding what's broken and fixing it" is not necessarily the best way to boost workplace wellbeing and cognitive fitness, a wellness and performance specialist says.

To "fix" burnout, for example, organisations often start by surveying employees to gauge the extent of the issue, Mackerel Sky – Leadership Matters founder Dr Isabelle Phillips tells a new HR Daily Premium webcast.

However, "if we invite a whole workforce population to open up a survey that asks us lots of questions around burnout, what we're actually doing is teaching them to think about burnout, to spot burnout and to focus on burnout", she says...
