Dismissal shortcuts causing a rise in "trainwreck" litigation

Employers appear to be taking considerable risks in the way they manage discipline and dismissals, with a lawyer warning that shortcuts often lead to more complexity and litigation, not less.

"What I'm seeing is a surprising departure from traditional disciplinary accepted and established practice, and I don't know whether that's because of frustration coming out of lockdowns and COVID, or because we're moving potentially towards a recession, or if it's frustration with the complexity of our workplace laws," Dentons partner Paul O'Halloran tells HR Daily.
