Bill proposes public pay gap reporting

Employers will be required to publicly disclose their gender pay gaps, under new laws now before Parliament.

Minister for Women Katy Gallagher has today introduced the Workplace Gender Equality Amendment (Closing the Gender Pay Gap) Bill 2023, noting that without legislative intervention, it will take 26 years to close the gap.

If passed, the law will require businesses with 100 or more employees to individually report their gender pay gaps to the Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA), which will publish them on its website...
