Bill introduces positive duty to prevent sexual harassment

The Federal Government has introduced its much-awaited workplace sexual harassment legislation.

The Anti-Discrimination and Human Rights Legislation Amendment (Respect at Work) Bill 2022 aims to implement seven legislative changes recommended in the March 2020 Respect@Work report.

The Bill would place a positive duty on employers to take reasonable and proportionate measures to eliminate sex discrimination, sexual harassment and victimisation, as far as possible.

This was recommendation 17 of the Respect@Work report, and its absence in the former Government's Respect@Work legislation was criticised by a Senate committee among other parties...
