A pool of qualified, capable IT workers is "almost completely untapped"

Many autistic people have the education, experience, traits and interest needed to fill Australia's most in-demand roles, but the talent pool is "almost completely untapped", research suggests.

According to a Gartner survey, involving 760 people who were either autistic or responding on an autistic person's behalf, the autistic community possesses the education, experience and interests needed to fill the most in-demand IT roles, especially jobs that demand creativity.

In a paper that explores the findings, US-based senior director analyst Brandon Germer, who is himself autistic, says that because qualified, capable, working-age autistic people face an 83% unemployment rate, the talent pool is "almost completely untapped"...
