Return-to-office mandates are set to "come to a head" before the holiday season, and employers going down this path should be prepared to lose loyal talent and pay a premium for newcomers, an HR advisor says.
"We're starting to see evidence of CEOs aggressively mandating return to office," says Gartner HR vice president Aaron McEwan.
"If you're mandating a return to the office in this market, be prepared to pay more," he warns. "If you don't want to pay more and you don't want to exacerbate these existing discrepancies, then offer fully remote or generous hybrid arrangements."
