Burnout rates spiking amid workforce resourcing struggles

As employers continue to struggle with resourcing demands, they should be more concerned about the impact this will have on workers' mental health and burnout levels, a psychologist says.

COVID and other factors have contributed to resourcing challenges in most organisations, but there's also a new "quickness of turnaround" expected of employees despite a shortage of resources, says LifeWorks director of clinical services Rose Zaffino.

As a result, LifeWorks' latest Mental Health Index found that 72% of Australian employees are "feeling the impact" of work and personal stress, and 35% have a high mental health risk.

Some 39% have a moderate mental health risk, and just 26% have a low risk...
