A sense of fun at work has all but dissipated, and many employers are failing to capitalise on moments that matter, according to an employee experience expert.
"We've got a growing habit of making things more complex. There's a correlation between taking things more seriously, and with complexity comes seriousness, usually," says the founder of employee experience consultancy Exsona, Ryan McGrory.
This has led to "a real absence of fun", says McGrory, and while the "popular thing is to blame COVID", this trajectory was in place before the pandemic.
